Climate Justice Book Club @ CITIM

Climate change is a big issue: you can ignore it, downplay it, hate it, or try to understand it in order to tackle it.

Whether you are a casual reader or a real bookworm, come and join our book club where we will read a whole book together by sharing it (a collective reading method known as ‘arpentage’ in French). We will explain everythingwhen you arrive!

Choose from these three non-fiction books, all written by talented authors who address the issue of climate justice from very different angles (click on the links for a detailed description)

Dark Laboratory by Toa Leigh Goffe

In Dark Laboratory, her groundbreaking new book, Goffe argues that it was the colonisation of the America by Christopher Columbus that set off the chain of events that has led us to where we stand today, on the precipice of global catastrophe.

Not the End of the World by Hannah Ritchie

Data scientist Hannah Ritchie has written a good-hearted, generous book that tries its very best to reassure us about the various environmental crises we face. Which, obviously, is much appreciated: God knows we need all the optimism we can get.

Climate Justice: What Rich Nations Owe the World by Cass Sunstein

If you’re injuring someone, you should stop – and pay for the damage you’ve caused. Why, this book asks, does this simple proposition, generally accepted, not apply to climate change?

As a participant, You will choose the book to study by a vote with others readers.

We will provide snacks and drinks.

Literary Baddies Book Club @ Rotondes

To kick off our autumn season, Literary Baddies turns to one of the most subversive novels ever written: The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

One hot spring, the Devil arrives in Moscow. He brings with him a giant talking black cat with a fondness for vodka, and chaos for a city that has officially stopped believing in either God or Satan. But underneath the mayhem is a love story between the Master, a writer destroyed by the Soviet literary establishment for daring to write about Christ and Pontius Pilate, and Margarita, who loves him enough to make a deal with the Devil to get him back.

Written in Stalin’s Soviet Union and circulated in secret for 26 years after Bulgakov’s death, it remains a pillar of modern world literature. We will examine this through the lens of evil as revelation, for Bulgakov’s Devil is less a villain and more a mirror exposing greed, cowardice and society’s moral bankruptcy.

Anyone is welcome regardless of finishing the book but beware of spoilers. No age limit, and do not feel afraid to come alone!

Nuit des Musées @ various locations

One night, seven museums: On Saturday, October 10, the 25th Museum Night will transform the capital into an exceptional museum tour. From 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., the Museum Night wristband will grant access to seven museums: the Villa Vauban, the Casino Luxembourg – Forum for Contemporary Art, the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, the National Museum at Fëschmaart, the Luxembourg National Museum of Natural History – Naturmusée, the Dräi Eechelen Museum, and the Mudam Luxembourg.

Throughout the evening, permanent and temporary exhibitions will be experienced in a new light, accompanied by a program that takes the museums beyond their usual settings: artistic performances, concerts, DJ sets, creative workshops, and special guided tours will highlight this anniversary edition. The evening unfolds at each visitor’s own pace: an exhibition here, a performance there, a culinary break between two museums… Whether on foot or using the shuttle buses organized specifically for the occasion, everyone can create their own itinerary.

The detailed program and all practical information are available at nuit-des-musees.lu.

To celebrate this 25th edition, the seven museums have created a joint art project with illustrator Irina Moons. The tour thus becomes a work of art for you to complete yourself. Starting at the first museum you visit, you’ll receive a free notebook when you purchase a wristband. At each museum, a unique stamp can be added, gradually bringing to life the illustrations created by Irina Moons. Seven museums, seven stamps, and, as you make your way through the tour, a memento that becomes a personal keepsake of this special night.

Locations: Villa Vauban, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, Lëtzebuerg City Museum, Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart, Musée national d’histoire naturelle Luxembourg – Naturmusée, Musée Dräi Eechelen, Mudam Luxembourg.

ADN – Amour Des Noirs: Telling Our Stories Differently

As part of Black History Month Luxembourg 2026, One People is hosting a film screening and discussion centered on the ADN – Amour Des Noirs project, created by Britanie Lenga.

ADN stems from a simple desire: to create spaces where Afro-Black identities can tell their own stories, in all the diversity of their experiences, relationships, and life journeys.

Through personal accounts and intimate narratives, the project addresses issues such as identity, love, family, legacy, representation, and self-esteem. It also seeks to bring forth alternative media narratives, moving beyond representations that are all too often focused solely on suffering or exceptionality.

The screening will be followed by a discussion between Britanie Lenga and the audience, providing an opportunity to reflect on the creation of ADN, the stories it weaves together, and, more broadly, the importance of being able to construct and pass on one’s own representations.

Revitalizing a Place, Reinventing Creativity

Once a fruit warehouse, then an industrial site, and now an iconic hub of contemporary creativity, the Banannefabrik is a prime example of how heritage can be transformed into a vibrant and active cultural space. As part of European Heritage Days, under the 2026 theme “Heritage in Peril: Revitalize, Resist, Reinvent,” as well as the celebration of its 15th anniversary as a creative hub (2011–2026), the project offers an immersive experience of this ever-evolving site through a participatory program open to all.

This edition highlights the continuity and evolution of a cultural project that has become iconic, while addressing current challenges related to urban transformation, the rehabilitation of brownfields, and the adaptation of contemporary uses. It thus helps raise public awareness of the dynamics of heritage transmission, reinvention, and promotion.

The program includes:

  • dramatized guided tours recounting the site’s history and its repurposing;

  • conversations with members of the Banannefabrik to learn about their activities, as well as meetings with artists and an exploration of various artistic practices (dance, theater);

  • participatory artistic workshops centered on movement and theatrical improvisation, open to all audiences and promoting intergenerational exchange;

  • reading sessions open to the public, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process;

  • a continuous video-dance installation and screenings reflecting the diversity of the artists featured.

On Friday, October 16, at 5:00 p.m., a welcome reception will be held for the public and guests, marking the launch of this program and providing a first opportunity for friendly interaction and exchange.

An after-work party hosted by a DJ will round out the program and foster a friendly atmosphere conducive to interaction among the public, artists-in-residence, and the venue’s staff, offering an opportunity to learn about the organization’s mission, its artistic programming, its events, and the various initiatives taking place at the venue.

On Saturday, a DJ will also take the stage following the open jam session—a blend of contemporary and urban dance designed as a space of freedom with no prerequisites—thereby extending the experience in a festive and inclusive atmosphere.

The full program can be found in the event calendars of the Banannefabrik members: TROIS C-L | Maison pour la danse, MASKéNADA, Théâtre du Centaure, and THEATERFEDERATIOUN. For some activities, reservations are recommended or required.

Location: Banannefabrik, rue du Puits, L-2359 Luxembourg
