On these very special Wednesday evenings, Mudam invites its visitors to reclaim the museum in fun, convivial and joyful ways and rediscover the building by taking part in our Night Fever activities. Through collaborations with local collectives, Mudam connects with Luxembourg’s communities, inviting them to co-host unique events. Free and open to the public, everyone is invited to join and engage in these communal and interactive gatherings and expand their museum experience!

For this edition, Mudam invites the artist Lynn Kelders to host a zine-making workshop. Zines are small, self-made publications that anyone can create. No rules, no gatekeepers. They’ve been used to share underground ideas, document movements, explore personal stories and imagine other worlds.

Who are you in the context of your community? How do identities shape the world? Should we focus on the individual or the collective?

Mix truth and fiction, collage and text, manifesto and doodle: your zine can be a mirror, a mask or a megaphone. Take on a role, create an alter ego, or tell your own story in this activity where we invite you to re-create yourself and to share your creation with whomever you’d like.

Biography:

Lynn Kelders is a genderqueer artist currently based between Berlin and Luxembourg. Their practice is shaped by a queer-feminist and community-oriented approach that moves between illustration, painting, sculpture, stage and costume design. While studying art history in Berlin they became active in the collective Richtung22, as part of which where they founded the queer-feminist working group and started publishing annual zines on shifting feminist topics. For Kelders, zine-making is both a creative practice and a way of building community. A space where voices, stories and identities can be shared, questioned and reimagined.

History@Play lecture by Prof. Marion Coville, Université de Poitiers

Since the 2010s, video games have increasingly been framed as cultural heritage: celebration of well-known creators, publication of designers’ biographies, books retracing iconic sagas. Video games have also entered museums and exhibitions, where they are presented as newcomers to cultural heritage. Drawing on an ethnographic study conducted behind the scenes of one such exhibition, this talk explores the processes through which video games are turned into heritage, and the ways in which gender dynamics shape these activities.

Biography

Marion Coville is an Associate Professor in Information and Communication Sciences at the Université de Poitiers, France. Their research investigates how gender and technology intersect, with a particular focus on the ways digital environments shape and are shaped by gendered identities and practices. As co-founder of the “Queer Games” workshop and former member of the queer and feminist hackerspace Le Reset (2015–2020), they have been actively engaged in creating spaces for critical reflection on inclusivity, representation, and activism within technological and gaming cultures. They currently lead the research project Blood and Data Flows: Menstrual Cycle Tracking Technologies (MenstruTECH), which examines the social, political, and ethical implications of menstrual tracking technologies in contemporary digital life.

© Steven Cruz

Once the primary gateway to Luxembourg, the capital’s central station is seeing a piece of its history come back to life. Under the thoughtful hands of Steven Cruz, one of the pillars of the old footbridge is now adorned with an azulejo fresco.

Drawing inspiration from the Manueline style and the rich tradition of Portuguese azulejos, the fresco creates a silent conversation between memory, migration, and hope. It evokes journeys undertaken, blending marine influences, symbols of freedom, and fragments of forgotten stories. Each motif offers a glimpse into a shifting past, an impression of the quiet strength of those who left everything behind to start anew. Poised between dream and reality, the artwork yields to the viewer’s imagination.

Biography

Steven Cruz (b. 1996) is a Luxembourgish visual artist of Portuguese origin. Trained in Lisbon, Athens, and Brussels, he has developed a practice that combines art and design. A winner of both the MAD Brussels Graduation Prize and RTL’s Generation Art competition, Cruz has established himself on the Luxembourgish art scene. Demonstrating his professional commitment to the art world, Steven is a co-founder of La Concierge, a non-profit organization dedicated to the recognition of emerging artists.

What do we mean by a fictional identity, and is it really fictional? To what extent does an embodied character become real, and how can it be given movement?

In this workshop, drag king artist x0x0 invites participants to explore, through practical and collective exercises, how gestures, postures and voices can transform our perception of ourselves and of others.

By experimenting with different ways of walking, dancing or holding oneself, participants will discover how the body becomes not only a playful tool but also a means of reflecting on gender stereotypes and the ways they shape our everyday lives. Each participant will be encouraged to invent their own alter ego, somewhere between fiction and reality, estrangement and embodiment.

While the previous workshop focuses on spoken words and how to use text and voice to create an alter ego, this session will focus on the body, movement and corporal attitudes to build identity physically.

No prior experience is required. Bring comfortable clothing and let yourself be surprised by what your body can create.

Biography

x0x0 is a drag king artist born from an artistic and identity-driven journey that began three years ago. Trained in fine arts, x0x0 engages in a research-based approach focused on gender, performance, and representations of masculinity. After exploring drag queen codes, he shifted toward king performance, while discovering his non-binary identity through these experiments. Today, x0x0 moves between the imagery of a gogo dancer and a gym coach, playing with masculine stereotypes and gendered postures. Influenced by pop culture, queer codes, and practices of deconstruction, x0x0 uses the stage as a laboratory to manipulate gender expressions. He advocates for a radically open vision of drag: a space where anyone can claim, twist and reinvent the codes.

© Erik ”Grift” Gärdefors

Casino Display is delighted to invite you to an evening dedicated to the magic of Nordic nature. Musician Grift and visual artist Alexandra Uppman aim to create a true symbiosis between their respective forms of expression, using a variety of techniques and media to conjure up a shared atmosphere.

For both artists, Nordic nature is shrouded in mystery; in their view, their practice can only reveal a tiny fraction of its splendour.

Biographies

With a strong bond to his home country Västergötland in Sweden, Erik Gärdefors aka Grift expresses a blend of rural folk, atmospheric metal, field-recordings and ambient compositions inspired by nature mysticism and local folklore. Grift's ambition is to evoke the mood some people are in great need of; the mood you can’t express through other mediums than music, words and images. Erik’s commitment to his own personal vision has attracted performance opportunities from promoters and festivals like Roadburn Festival (NL), Fekete Zaj Fesztivál (HU), L'Homme Sauvage (FR), Fortress Festival (UK), Hradby Samoty (SK), Culthe Fest (DE), Mystic Festival (PL) amongst others.

Alexandra Uppman is a Luxembourg-based, Swedish-speaking artist with Luxembourgish and Finnish origins. She graduated from the École de Recherche Graphique in Brussels, and her artistic practice is inspired by the forest as a space that connects her various origins, and serves as a starting point for reflections on belonging and home. Her work is influenced by the metal music culture, and explores the emotional and symbolic links between nature and identity. She works primarily with oil-based charcoal drawings and with sculpture, while also exploring ways to incorporate immersive and atmospheric elements into her work. Recent exhibitions include works at MNAHA - The National Museum of History and Art (LU), Cercle Cité (LU), Luxembourg Art Week (LU).
